Class Information

The Genesis Dance Academy offers group classes in the following levels and genres.

Please note that the class levels do not necessarily align with school year levels. Upon enrolment, students will be advised as to which level they are at.

Classical Ballet (RAD)

Classical Ballet has long been accepted as a vital form of training for all dance genres. At Genesis Dance Academy, ballet classes follow the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus. RAD is the world’s leading classical ballet syllabus.

Along with the enjoyment of learning ballet, come many skills and disciplines including posture development, flexibility, endurance and muscle, balance and strength development, physical fitness and artistic appreciation.

Jazz

While Jazz provides an exciting way to exercise and get fit, it is also a means of developing skill, strength, balance, stamina, co-ordination and self-confidence.

  • Beginner Jazz (based on CSTD syllabus but not examined)
  • Junior Jazz (based on CSTD syllabus but not examined)
  • Intermediate Jazz (based on CSTD syllabus but not examined)
  • Senior Jazz (based on CSTD syllabus but not examined)
Contemporary

Contemporary dance combines elements of jazz, lyrical, modern and classical ballet in an expressive, versatile and fluid style.

  • Beginner Contemporary (based on CSTD Jason Winters syllabus but not examined)
  • Junior Contemporary (based on CSTD Jason Winters syllabus but not examined)
  • Intermediate Contemporary (based on CSTD Jason Winters syllabus but not examined)
  • Senior Contemporary (based on CSTD Jason Winters syllabus but not examined)
Hip Hop

Hip Hop dance is a street dance style that requires a combination of strength, musicality and dynamics and is a great style to incorporate into any dancer’s repertoire to enhance their versatility and style.

  • Beginner Hip Hop (for Lower Primary aged students and not examined)
  • Junior Hip Hop (for Upper Primary aged students and not examined)
  • Intermediate Hip Hop (for Middle School students and not examined)
  • Senior Hip Hop (for High School students and not examined)
